Los dientes son estructuras anatómicas formadas por calcio principalmente, que tienen como función esencial, la masticación de los alimentos. Los dientes poseen un esmalte que los protege y el cual es propenso a mancharse y debilitarse por el consumo de ciertas sustancias como el café y las gaseosas negras (cola). Con el siguiente experimento, estudiarás los efectos que causa en los dientes, el consumo constante de gaseosas.
Materiales y Sustancias
- 1 gaseosa oscura sin azúcar
- 1 recipiente
- 2 huevos blancos cocidos con cáscara
- 1 recipiente con agua
- 1 cepillo dental
- Pasta dental
Procedimiento
- Coloca cada huevo en un recipiente diferente. Uno debe estar lleno de agua y el otro de gaseosa. Sé cuidadoso para así no romper los huevos.
- Una vez realizado el montaje, lo puede dejar reposar por 24 a 48 horas.
- Pasado este tiempo, observa y anota en tu libreta, lo que sucedió con cada huevo.
¿Qué sucedió?
Probablemente habrás notado que uno de los huevos se tornó de color marrón oscuro, esto es debido a que la gaseosa está formada por un compuesto llamado ácido fosfórico. Este compuesto es uno de los responsables de debilitar y manchar nuestros dientes.
Para comprobar la importancia del cepillado de los dientes, prepara un cepillo con pasta dental y cepilla con sumo cuidado el huevo manchado. Gracias a esta acción observarás que el huevo perderá un poco sus manchas.
Explicación
Tanto los dientes como las cáscaras de huevos están formados de minerales como el calcio. El esmalte está compuesto principalmente de fosfato de calcio y la cáscara de huevo de carbonato de calcio. Entonces, estos compuestos al estar expuestos a la presencia continua del ácido fosfórico (sustancia que forma parte de las gaseosas), se debilitaran, ocasionando problemas de salud bucal como las caries. Igualmente, tendremos problemas estéticos ya que los dientes se nos tornarán de color amarillo.
Para eso se recomienda no consumir gaseosas en exceso y también realizar el cepillado de dientes de forma correcta.
Además recuerda que el consumo constante de este tipo de bebidas no solo daña nuestra salud bucal, sino también nos afecta de muchas otras maneras.
